easy easy easy easyInternet cafe. the easyJet people are on to something - simple responses to simple needs and do it with volume so it’s cheap. most of us want to check our email abroad. pay for time at the vending machine, login and type away. 1.80 pounds per hour is also 4 times less than the going rate.

i found an ultimate team to practice with tonight Clapham Ultimate.

Tintin is a superexcellent marriage of comics and Flash animation.

Good luck to my Mike and my Show-Em-Your-A-Tiger brother Seano who is doing the ultra multi kilometer Canadian Ski Marathon with Mike this weekend!

i watched Doctor Zhivago yesterday. i love period pieces set in foreign lands where the cast only speak one language (english for example) but the songs are sung and the literary props like signs, newspapers or magazines are written in the native language. subtitles are good too, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. go one way - all subtitles or the other - no subtitles and unilingual dialog.

contrast this with films like K-19 or the Hunt for Red October where most of the dialog is english but a few ‘nyet’s, ‘da’s and subtitles are thrown in, at random and with poor accents. it breaks up the continuity of the film and makes my mind fluctuate from ‘watching and understanding’ to ‘watching and sometimes not understanding’.

ps. the film was shot in Spain! i never would have picked Spain as a geographic substitute for Russia.

i have a t-shirt from blind skateboards. it’s grey with rubbery yellow dots across the front. it’s also tactile and people love to touch it. i guessed it said “Blind” until i started playing with a Braille font from Astigmatic. ha, i was so wrong!

go and see Ararat.

it’s a film about the Armenian Genocide and about the difficulty of making a film about this horrific subject. it makes me so angry to see men with power act upon their delusions, act out their prejudices with brutal force; and this bullying goes on without mercy, compassion and most frustratingly without recognition! the film is scheduled to show in Turkish cinemas today (Jan. 16), but has been cancelled by the Turkish distributor Belge Film due, in part, to possible violence/disruptions.

the more people who see this film the better. we need to recognize this happend,
remind ourselves how much it hurts, and fight against this type of brutality.

i plan to read more from these sources
